| Welcome to Earth Lodge The most unique feature of the reproductions you are about to see is that only deer or elk back strap sinew is used in all beadwork, porcupine quillwork and stitching. Linen thread is used for porcupine quill braiding on pipe stems. The customary Indian 'brain tanned' deer, elk and buffalo hide is used for all reproductions. Hand worked buffalo and deer rawhide is used for parfleche items. Natural earth pigments are used for painting. Most reproductions are made with a patina to appear as if they are as old as the period in which they would have been originally created. In many instances old stock beads are used as well as the old time colors and combinations. No synthetics of any kind are ever used. I hope you will find your visit here informative, entertaining, and enjoyable. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to inquire about purchasing any of my work, and to view my calendar to see places I'll be exhibiting and selling my reproductions. The exact items seen on this site are examples and some may have been sold but similar or completely different items can be reproduced upon request. In addition, Earth Lodge Reproduction items are sometimes offered on eBay. Please check my eBay profile (ectypist) for links to current offerings. |
